Acupuncture
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs are tools used
to adjust the body’s Qi (vital energy), correcting disharmony,
which causes disease. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, sometimes
referred to as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), has
been treating people for nearly 2,700 years.
Acupuncture
is the insertion of fine needles into specific points
on the body’s surface. These points lie along a system
of pathways or meridians. Acupuncture can be particularly
useful for: |
- Ear, nose, and
throat disorders
- Eye problems
- Respiratory
problems
- Pain management
- Menstrual
pain
|
- Infertility
- Menopause and other
women’s health issues
- Digestive problems (constipation, diarrhea, gas, gloating, ulcers,
irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux)
- Stress, depression and anxiety

What
To Expect
- In-depth
Consultation—Discussing
symptoms, medical history, diet and other factors that may be
causing an imbalance of energy
in the body. The acupuncturist will also examine your tongue
and pulse to understand your body’s constitution and
general vitality.
- Treatment—Treatments
occur lying down and generally lasts 20 to 60 minutes. The solid
stainless
steel needles used are
sterile, very thin (about the diameter of a human hair),
and are designed to slide easily into the skin. Very few
people experience
pain during the session. In fact, many people find treatments
extremely relaxing. After the session, needles are medically
disposed of.
- Herbal
Medicine—If you’re interested,
the therapist can discuss the highly effective combination
of acupuncture and
herbal medicine. While acupuncture treats the body from
the outside in, herbal prescriptions treat the body from
the inside out.
Safe and affordable, herbal prescriptions may be an avenue
to explore for many conditions.
