Razor burn - those red, itchy, stingy bumps - is caused by irritation of the hair follicles during shaving. Neither men nor women are immune to it, and especially if you have sensitive skin, use incorrect shaving technique or dull razors. If you are prone to razor burn, always shave with a sharp razor, shave in the direction of hair growth and warm the skin to soften it before shaving. If you still get razor burn, then you can try these treatments after shaving to cool the burn.
.) Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and skin healer. Apply a small amount to a cotton ball and rub it over the distressed skin.
.) Dissolve two aspirin tablets in just enough warm water to make a thick paste and apply it to the irritated area. Aspirin helps soothe the skin and stop the pain of razor burn. It will relieve redness and promote healing.
.) Use a topical hydrocortisone cream you can find in any drugstore. Apply the cream to the razor burn sparingly. It will help relive the pain, itching, irritation, and redness associated with razor burn and promote healing.
.) Witch hazel has cooling and soothing properties and reduces redness. Apply a small amount to a cotton ball and rub over the irritated area.
.) Pure aloe vera gel helps soothe the irritation and redness of razor burn, just like it helps to soothe sunburn. Apply aloe vera gel to the irritated area and rub in.
