Keep fresh herbs at hand by growing your own in a container garden. Herbs also freeze fairly well and defrost quickly.
Use fresh or dried herbs to season your meals. Toss pasta with fresh basil, put cilantro on a sandwich, or top a bowl of fresh berries with mint leaves. A middle eastern tabouleh salad, made with parsley, mint, cucumber, tomatoes and bulghar is a great spring and summer salad and contains only alkaline ingredients.
Drink herbal teas, such as peppermint or chamomile. Because they're caffeine free, you can drink unsweetened herbal tea instead of water for an alkaline boost throughout the day.
Eat more dandelion. Although not commonly thought of as an herb, dandelion is often included in the herb family and is highly alkalizing and detoxifying. Dandelion greens are often available in the produce section at specialty markets, and you can find it in in tincture and capsule form at most health food stores. Fresh dandelion root makes a soothing and medicinal tea.
